Harley-Davidson has not only presented its new electric LiveWire model to symbolize a new era, but also the Pan America 1250 utility vehicle, a rare adventure bike from the American brand, which was unveiled in Taiwan a few days ago. In 2021, Harley-Davidson is bringing the Sportster S to the forefront of American motorcycling like Harley Davidson Roadster!
If you’re a die-hard Harley fan, you don’t have to worry about Harley-Davidson creating something soulless in the face of modernization. The flat LED headlamps look even more different from the round ones used in the past.
Of course, the most attractive feature of the Sportster S is the sturdy engine and exhaust design. The engine is a water-cooled twin-cylinder engine modified from the Pan America 1250, and the factory gives you a winding exhaust layout, which breaks the impression that Harley bikes are always cool but not fast. The Harley-Davidson Sportster S is a good-looking bike, and you might even save money on modifications.
Those with a keen eye may notice that the Harley-Davidson Sportster S has been given a “water-cooled” engine, benefiting from the Pan America 1250, a V-twin 1252 c.c. utility vehicle engine that has been significantly modified, including redesigned This includes redesigned valves, combustion chamber styling, camshafts, variable valve timing, and other efforts to increase the Sportster S’s torque by 10% from 3000-6000 rpm.
Even so, the Sportster S weighs 228 kg and has 121 HP @ 7500 rpm and 127 Nm @ 6000 rpm. It’s fast.
Despite the sporty look and engine design, the factory-fitted front single-radial calipers and 320mm discs are the only things that make you wonder about the braking performance of the Sportster S. Can it really stop this 228kg big guy?
To cope with the increased power and sporty look from the inside out, Harley-Davidson has given its new bikes a full range of technology. The Sportster S benefits from an IMU meter with cornering ABS, traction control and even a Cornering Enhanced Drag-Torque Slip Control System (C-DSCS), a technology similar to engine brake control.
The Harley-Davidson Sportster S also has a 4″ TFT digital instrumentation system to keep up with the rest of the 2021 model year, with mobile phone connectivity. Although the TFT instrumentation system may complicate modifications, Harley has thoughtfully designed the factory instrumentation in a round shape, perhaps to reduce the risk of future modifications.
The Harley-Davidson Sportster S has just been unveiled in the US and should arrive in Taiwan in 2022, so I wonder if you’ll be able to accept this new generation of Harley with its rugged yet technical design.
