There are different types of e-Visas for India, and each one has different document requirements. To understand the requirements of each visa type, let’s start by reviewing the types of documents you need to submit. There are three main types of visas: tourist, business, and medical. You must have the appropriate documents for each of these visa types in order to process your application successfully.

The first type of Indian e-Visa application is for a visitor with a purpose other than tourism. The purpose of such travel can be as diverse as attending a short-term yoga programme, a medical treatment, or a conference organized by government departments. This document category is available to most international citizens. For those who are planning to visit India on business, however, it may not be sufficient.

Categories of e-Visas

An Indian e-Visa is a travel authorisation issued by the Indian government that enables a person to enter and remain in the country for a specified period of time. There are three basic categories of electronic visas: tourist, business, and medical. For tourism purposes, the e-Visa allows a person to stay in India for up to 90 days, except for Japan and Canada. The maximum stay for a US citizen is 180 days.

A recent expansion of the e-Visa program to 158 countries makes it easier than ever to travel to India. In addition to the usual tourist visas, you can now obtain a business or conference e-Visa. The e-Visa process is quick and easy. The Indian government hopes that this new initiative will encourage business and medical tourism. All of these documents must be translated into English before you can submit your application. For minor applicants, you must also present a notarized birth certificate of the child. This document should indicate the date of birth and nationality of both parents. If you are of Indian origin, you will also need to submit your birth certificate and previous Indian passport. In case you don’t have an Indian passport, you must also bring a copy of your passport with you.
