Every 5 years or so I like to take a little tour of my house to freshen things up a bit. Last time it was the Bathrooms’ turn to get a facelift. After deciding on the budget and the idea, it was time to choose the sinks and bathroom cabinets.
theme
The first thing you need to do is decide on the theme of your bathroom before you can choose bathroom sinks and cabinets. I used an antique theme in my bathroom. The bathtubs were cast iron claw feet and the bathroom vanity was antique style. It is perfect for toilets, tiles, window curtains and lighting.
This time I have chosen a more modern theme. Fortunately, there are more options to choose from when it comes to this topic. So much so that it took a few days to make a choice.
the size of the bathroom
You need to consider the size of your bathroom to know what type of sinks and bathroom cabinets are suitable for your bathroom. The size of the area where I want to put my makeup kit is 7 feet. That means this room can accommodate double the vanity. Most double sinks are about 59 inches or almost 5 feet in diameter.
If you’re short on space, look for bathroom sinks and cabinets with sinks. The smallest set I’ve come across is only 20 inches tall. The widest single sink set I’ve ever seen is as wide as double sink sets.
material
The material from which the 36 inch bathroom vanity and cabinet are made determines how much maintenance they require and how durable they are. I personally prefer glass or solid rubber wood tops because they are easy to clean. Some may prefer marble or solid surfaces for the counter. For the rest of the case, I prefer solid rubber or solid oak due to their durability.
It is also important to make sure that the wood is waterproof and resistant to aging. The first makes cleaning easier and the second keeps the wood looking new for years.
For an even more modern look, you can laminate the cabinets with tempered glass or textured panels. I prefer a wood finish so I can keep the look modern and warm at the same time.
