What car insurance do I have?
Have you forgotten which car insurance you have? It’s easily done if you pay by direct debit and let the car insurance be automatically renewed every year. But staying with the same insurance company all your life can lead to you getting more expensive and worse insurance over time than if you change companies often. Here’s how to find out what car insurance you have and whether it still meets your needs.
This is how you find out which insurance company you have
If you have forgotten which insurance company you took out your car insurance with, you can see it on the Swedish Transport Agency’s website.
1. Surf on the Swedish Transport Agency’s website. Go to “E-services in road traffic” and select “View information about your vehicles”.
2. Login with an e-ID or code. Once you are logged in, you will see the vehicles registered in your name in a list. Click on the vehicle you are unsure about.
3. Now you can see information about your vehicle, but to see which insurance company you have, you must click on “Show all vehicle information” and then select “Insurance”.
The insurance date is important to keep track of because then you know when you can compare and change your insurance next time .
How do I find out the extent of my car insurance?
Do you have traffic, half or full insurance? It’s a little trickier to figure out. There is no page where you can easily see this. But there are a few different ways you can find out this information.
Option No. 1
Search your inbox. In connection with taking out your insurance, you should have received an email with information about your insurance from your insurance company. Try searching for words like “insurance”, and “car insurance”, or, if you bought your insurance via Insplanet, search for “Insplanet”.
Option No. 2
If you can’t find what you’re looking for in your inbox, you can go to the Swedish Transport Agency’s website and find out which insurance company you have. You can then call the insurance company and enter your name and social security number. Then the insurance company will be able to produce the information you are looking for.
Option No. 3
If you are unable to obtain the information using options 1 and 2, you can search through your most recent invoices and payments to try to find which insurance company you have.
Tips for cheaper car insurance
In connection with reviewing your car insurance, it may be good to review the price you pay for the insurance. It is quite common for the premium to be increased at the annual due date when the insurance is automatically renewed. It can therefore be worthwhile to compare and change insurance every year in order to keep the price down. Just remember to always compare the terms and scope of the insurance so that the new car insurance still covers your needs.
On Insplanet you can compare car insurance from several insurance companies at the same time. It’s free of charge and you don’t commit to anything. We give you suggestions for different car insurances that you can then compare prices and terms of. If you find a good insurance policy, you can buy it directly through us at the same price as with the insurance company.
