What this means for parents and grandparents
Effective July 4, 2022, parents and grandparents need to apply less to stay more in Canada! On July 7, 2022, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada announced that they would be increasing the duration for each entry on a Super Visa beginning the first week of July. Here, we will discuss what a Super Visa is and how it has changed.
HOW DOES A SUPER VISA WORK?
Like a regular visitor visa, a Super Visa allows multiple entries to CANADA VISA APPLICATION ONLINE within a certain time period. This means that once your application has been approved, you may come to Canada several times for a prescribed duration within a larger time frame. There are three key differences between the standard visitor visa and Canada’s Super Visa:
Temporary Public Policy 2: Essential Workers
On April 14, 2021, the Government of Canada announced a temporary policy which would open pathways to permanent residence for over 90,000 essential workers and international graduates who are currently contributing to the Canadian economy. This new government initiative has three proposed paths:
- Health Care Workers
- Essential Workers
- International Graduates
This new government initiative will run from May 6, 2021 to November 5, 2021, or once all 90,000 positions have been filled. In the second of this three-part blog, we will look at the path to permanent residence for Essential Workers.

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS
The government has imposed a few travel restrictions and limitations for Canadian citizens and foreign nationals trying to enter Canada. For the time being, most foreign nationals looking to visit Canada for reason such as leisure, tourism, recreation or entertainment, cannot travel to Canada even though they may obtain a valid visitor visa or eTA (electronic travel authorization).
