Everest Base Camp Trek
To begin your Everest Base Camp Trek, you will begin in Lukla, the starting point for the trek. Your trail will then split at Pheriche/Dingboche and Namche Bazaar. From here, you will make your way up the mountain to the base camp, which is located slightly east of Lukla, east of Kala Patthar, and west of Kala Dingboche.
Day 1
You’ll begin your Everest Base Camp Trek by flying up in a mountain plane to Lukla or Phakding. From there, you’ll hike towards Namche Bazaar, where you’ll spend two nights. On the first day, you’ll have a chance to rest and acclimatise before heading up to the base camp. You’ll then return to Lukla by the same route you took on day one and two.
Day 2
On Day 2 of the Everest Base Camp Trek, you will leave the comfort of Lukla and head to the mountains. While you’ll experience some elevation loss, there will also be many uphill sections. It’s worth mentioning that you’ll also be treated to spectacular views of the mountain.
Day 3
Getting to the Everest Base Camp is only possible during certain seasons, so it is wise to plan your trek accordingly. The ideal time to trek to Everest Base Camp is during the spring, from mid-March to early May, or in late fall from mid-September to early November. Any other time of the year is not as suitable, so be sure to dress warmly.
Day 4
The Everest Base Camp Trek usually lasts for about twelve days. You will be trekking for about 15 km per day, with average speeds of 5km/hour and elevation gains of about 700 meters per day. The first half of the trek is entirely downhill, with the remainder being a gradual ascent to the base camp.
Day 5
The Everest Base Camp trek is perhaps the most popular trek in the world. Though it has been plagued with pollution and overcrowding in recent years, this hike offers a sense of adventure and sweeping views of Mount Everest.
Day 6
Day 6 of the Everest Base Camp Trek consists of a challenging but rewarding ascent to the top of the world’s highest peak. You will pass through beautiful forests, Sherpa villages, glacial moraines, and foothills. The terrain is very mountainous, so dressing in layers is essential. Bringing a first aid kit with you will also help you prepare for any unexpected situations that may arise on your journey.
Day 7
You will be able to witness the dazzling Himalayan vistas and natural diversities on Day 7 of the Everest Base Camp Trek. You will also have the opportunity to see beautiful glaciers, lakes, and waterfalls. This trek is not for the faint of heart and requires some acclimatization days.
Day 8
Day eight of your Everest Base Camp trek involves a long ascent to a glacier in the Khumbu Glacier and a final descent to Dingbouche, a village on the fringes of the Khumbu Glacier. It’s an exhausting climb, but the views are worth it.
Day 9
The ninth day of the Everest Base Camp Trek begins with a flight to Lukla and a pickup at your hotel. You will then start your trek to Phakding, passing suspension bridges and tea houses along the way. The trek will be strenuous, with steep and rough trails. It can be difficult for beginners to complete without proper preparation and training.
Day 10
One of the most exciting and challenging days of the Everest Base Camp Trek is Day 10. You will leave Lukla early in the morning and trek to the village of Pheriche, where you will have breakfast. From here, you will hike to Kala Patthar summit, which gives you a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Day 10 of Everest Base Camp Trek continues through the Khumbu Region, passing sub-Alpine forests and melting ice rivers, before arriving at the base camp.
