Step 4: Hover the mouse cursor over the browser’s address bar and type http://extender.linksys.com. FYI, if you are also planning to configure a Linksys router, then the configuration process can be done easily by connecting to the home WiFi and using the default (if not changed) Linksys router IP i.e. 192.168. 1.1.
Step 5: “Authentication Required” pop up with appear upon entering http://extender.linksys.com in the URL bar and hitting the Enter key.
Note: Make sure to type the extender’s default web address very carefully. Also, it is suggested to avoid using the search bar and wipe out the browsing history as well. Doing so will definitely prevent typing errors.

Step 6: On the “Authentication Required” pop-up, you will be prompted to enter the extender’s default username and password. Once you are done, click on Log In.
Note: Refer to the Linksys extender manual for the default username and password of your device. If you don’t have the manual, then the login details are easily available on Google (depending upon the Linksys extender model you have).
Step 7: Wireless tab will display. Select it and click on the Basic Wireless Settings option.
Step 8: “Configuration View” pop-up will appear. Click on the manual button and enter the WiFi name (SSID) of your router. For instance, if you have a Linksys router then its default SSID would be LinksysXXXXX. For this, you have to ensure that you have performed the Linksys router setup process in a proper way.
Step 9: “Wireless Security” section will display upon entering the router’s default SSID (WiFi network name). Now, follow the on-screen instructions and click on Save Settings.
Step 10: Unplug your router and the Linksys extender. Plug in your existing router first. Wait for some time. Plug in your Linksys WiFi range extender. Wait for the LEDs on your devices to get stable.
