A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a way of partitioning a physical machine into several fully functional and independent servers.
Each virtual server runs under its own operating system (Windows or Linux), with its own CPU, RAM, and hard drive resources, and can also be independently rebooted.
What is a VPS?
VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. A VPS is a partitioned space on a server that has the characteristics of an entire server itself. A virtual server hosting has its own operating system (OS), its own applications, resources and configurations. All of this is contained in one powerful server. Each server can have multiple VPS accounts on it.
How does VPS hosting work?
As the name suggests, the whole premise of VPS hosting revolves around virtualization. Using this technology, entire servers can be “split up” and assigned to different people.
Virtual servers share a single physical server, but each has the advantage of being able to install and configure their space as if it were theirs entirely. This gives them a high degree of flexibility as well as an added element of privacy – for a fraction of the cost of a dedicated server.
Virtualization technology assesses the server as a whole and then distributes resources among different accounts based on what those account holders have paid.
For example, if the server has 128 GB of RAM, it can divide it into 2 or more parts.
Each account holder will then be assigned the amount of RAM specified in their hosting contract. The resources allocated to each account are only for that account and will not be used even if other accounts need them or use more of them.
Advantages of virtual servers
In addition to the advantages of having a series of resources dedicated to your hosting, VPS free trial allow a wide margin of scalability. If at any time your server runs out of resources, you can easily upgrade from your Control Panel and allocate the new resources you want.
Managed VPS servers allow 50 hosting licenses by default, this means that you can manage up to 50 independent hostings using the same virtual server. The number of licenses is expandable like the rest of the resources of your VPS server.
When is it advisable to switch to VPS?
If you have a large number of shared hostings, we recommend moving to a virtual server service, where you can manage your hostings independently in the same way as in shared hostings, with the advantages of having exclusive resources assigned to your server, the capacity to create personalized hosting plans for each hosting, and to be able to extend the PHP parameters of the hostings such as memory limit or add some PHP libraries for your server.
Virtual Private Servers occupy an intermediate space between the shared hosting service and the service that a Dedicated Server gives you. They are a good option if your project exceeds the limits of a shared plan.
